Symptoms

In backup management console, you open the Backups tab and notice that the backup location you want to view is not listed.

Solution

To add a location:

  1. Click Browse:
  2. Navigate to the location, select it and click Done.

The location will be added to the list.

Symptoms

  1. You installed Acronis Backup 12.5 Agent on a machine with non-server operating system (Windows 7/8.1/10 etc.) that has a Hyper-V role enabled. A Workstation license is assigned to this Agent.

    To check whether Hyper-V role is enabled on the machine, open Windows Services (Start -> Run -> Services.msc) and look for services with names starting with "Hyper-V", e.g. Hyper-V Virtual Machine Management. If such services are present in the list, then Hyper-V role is enabled.

  1. Your company's network has tight security, that incorporates firewalls or deep packet inspection software which interferes only with encrypted traffic. In this case, Acronis Connection Verification Tool will report the connection to be successful, yet the backup will fail. Once an unknown certificate is present in the chain, Acronis Storage rejects the connection.
  2. On MacOS, there is no Acronis Connection Verification Tool yet. OpenSSL can be used as a replacement for it.

Every time an Agent is installed, a new entity is created in Acronis software and the machine is displayed in the Backup management console. When the Agent is reinstalled, a second entry might appear for the same machine and new backup archives for this machine will be created once old backup plans are applied. To prevent these duplicates from appearing, leave Remove the logs and configuration settings (Windows) or Clean up all product traces (Linux) cleared.

Acronis Backup: Replication fails with "Cannot use this type of backup archive"

Symptoms

  1. You have a backup plan with replication. Backup format is set to Automatic selection in Backup options.
  2. The resulting archive is in Version 11 format as the original archive was created by older product version
  3. After the archive is deleted in original location, replication fails with the following error:

    Cannot use this type of backup archive.

Acronis Backup 12.5: KVM support

Acronis Backup 12.5 supports Kernel-based virtual machines (KVM). Backup of KVMs can be done by installing Agent inside the guest OS of the virtual machine (agentless backup is not available). When an agent is installed in the guest system, the backup and recovery operations are the same as with a physical machine

To protect KVMs, you need Acronis Backup Advanced Virtual Host license: with one license you can install an unlimited number of Agents inside virtual machines on a single host.
