Symptom

Installation of Acronis True Image on Mac fails with the error message "Acronis software for business is installed on your Mac".

Cause

Acronis True Image is incompatible with other Acronis software on Mac. Any other Acronis programs must be uninstalled before installing Acronis True Image.

Acronis Backup Cloud and Acronis Backup Service: Changing Hostname in Archive Name

Starting with version 5, archive names in Acronis Backup Cloud/Acronis Backup Service are generated automatically based on machine's hostname and ID. Acronis software caches the hostname in the configuration to prevent new archive creation once the hostname is changed (which might be a common case for Macs that can obtain hostnames by DHCP). You can manually change the setting, if you want to create a new archive with the new hostname.

On a Windows machine, the hostname is stored in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Acronis\BackupAndRecovery\Settings:

Symptoms

You receive a "Backup is missing: No successful backups have been performed by the backup plan more than for XX days" alert from a backup plan that is not applied to any device (was revoked from ALL resources but not deleted). 

Cause

What is ESXi configuration backup

A backup of an ESXi host configuration enables you to recover an ESXi host to bare metal including dissimilar hardware (as long as this hardware is supported for ESXi host installation by VMware). The recovery is performed using Acronis Backup bootable media environment.

The virtual machines running on the host are not included in the backup. The VMs must be backed up and recovered separately.
